You don't have to check the website every day either. I personally have groupons sent to my phone via the android app. However, you can also have them sent to your facebook, twitter, or email accounts.
There are some conditions of course. Most groupons are up only for a limited amount of time and there have been times when I have had to wait 24 hours to redeem a groupon but this is truly rare and I still got the savings on an item that I would have paid full price for anyway.
Why would businesses want to do this?
During this down economy many businesses are desperate for customers and thus are willing to discount their services or products by as much as 50% or 70%.
What kind of deals are offered?
The truth is that they vary. You aren't going to want every single groupon that you see. Thats not the point though. The point is when you see a deal you want its going to be drastically marked down in price.
